Internet Service Providers are starting to adopt fiber optic gigabit service, at least one more for now

The new addition to the lineup of Gigabit Internet providers is AT&T. I am curious to see what comes of this, but at least there is still Google Fiber if AT&T pulls anything, like implementing data caps. There is no excuse for ISPs Implementing data caps on a non wireless internet service unless they make it really cheap and still provide a non-capped equivalent for power users that is priced reasonably. Bandwidth(in Mbps or Gbps) is not a finite resource, an ISP can have more fiber optic cables put in and upgrade the routers to increase bandwidth to allow for more customers on the network. I hope that at&t eventually directly competes with Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Google fiber, and even municipal ISPs  because if they do, it means that the consumer will benefit. Competition often results in lower prices and better service. However, a law has been passed in the House of Representatives protecting private ISPs like Comcast, Time Warner Cable, etc. from competition with municipal ISPs. That is not good because then there is no competition, which means no improvements to service and lower prices. Overall, I am very glad that more Internet Service Providers(ISP) are starting to provide fiber optic gigabit internet service. I am looking forward to widespread adoption for fiber optic 1Gbps+ internet providers.

Gb = Gigabit
Mb = Megabit

GB = Gigabyte
MB = Megabyte

1 byte equals 8bits, so a Gigabit is one eighth the size of a Gigabyte.

Today, I tried out Google+

First Impressions:
  • Very fast and responsive
  • Easy to use
  • Great feel to the user interface
  • Notification system is clearly superior to that of Facebook, a notification icon pops up at the top and when you click it, it shows your list of notifications, and when you click the notification, the notification menu becomes larger to accommodate the post or whatever the content you are being notified (images below)
  • A very happy and inviting platform. Even, a few cute animations.
I think that I will try G+ for a more extended period, see how it treats me.

Chris Roberts straightens out the whole idea of Star citizen on consoles and PC's

here is a small quote from Chris Roberts Post:
Quote

As far as consoles go Star Citizen will never be on the PS3 or Xbox 360. As for the next gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, we have NO CURRENT PLANS, but my stance remains open and is consistent with the many interviews I’ve given -

IF the platform holders (Sony & Microsoft) allow us to update the code and data without restrictions and odious time consuming QC procedures, IF they allow our community to openly interact with each other across platforms then I would CONSIDER supporting them.

New Android Phone

Today, Motorola introduced the Moto G. The Moto G is a mainstream android 4.3 smartphone with a 4.5" 720p display with a 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB of ram and only 3G connectivity. Best part is that it is $200 for the 16GB model with no contract.

T3Krant #3: Modern Internet Service Providers(ISP)

Just now,  I read on Gigaom.com that comcast is putting a 300GB data cap on economy up to the performance packages.  350GB for Blast,  450GB for Extreme 50 and 600GB for Extreme 105. You are probably thinking it's not a big deal,  or that's plenty for me.  Well let me tell you,  comcast  is testing  the waters to see if people will accept the changes,  if they do,  they will tighten the reigns and lower the data caps, and the best part is that if you go over the cap,  they charge you $10 for an additional 50GB. I know it seems like a lot now,  but If you maxed your bandwidth all month on a 0.92 Mbps plan you would fill that 300GB! I'm also afraid that if we let this happen,  other issues will follow,  If you can try to switch to a different ISP.

I think Android browsers need to have all the plugins that windows browsers have. That would be awesome.
