Internet Service Providers are starting to adopt fiber optic gigabit service, at least one more for now

The new addition to the lineup of Gigabit Internet providers is AT&T. I am curious to see what comes of this, but at least there is still Google Fiber if AT&T pulls anything, like implementing data caps. There is no excuse for ISPs Implementing data caps on a non wireless internet service unless they make it really cheap and still provide a non-capped equivalent for power users that is priced reasonably. Bandwidth(in Mbps or Gbps) is not a finite resource, an ISP can have more fiber optic cables put in and upgrade the routers to increase bandwidth to allow for more customers on the network. I hope that at&t eventually directly competes with Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Google fiber, and even municipal ISPs  because if they do, it means that the consumer will benefit. Competition often results in lower prices and better service. However, a law has been passed in the House of Representatives protecting private ISPs like Comcast, Time Warner Cable, etc. from competition with municipal ISPs. That is not good because then there is no competition, which means no improvements to service and lower prices. Overall, I am very glad that more Internet Service Providers(ISP) are starting to provide fiber optic gigabit internet service. I am looking forward to widespread adoption for fiber optic 1Gbps+ internet providers.

Gb = Gigabit
Mb = Megabit

GB = Gigabyte
MB = Megabyte

1 byte equals 8bits, so a Gigabit is one eighth the size of a Gigabyte.
